Dog-fighting ring busted in Maharashtra

New Delhi, Feb. 22 (UPI) — The Dog Fighting Ring in the northern Indian state of Maharashtra has been busted and the owner, Puneet, has been charged with criminal conspiracy.

Police officials said a joint investigation was launched after the owners, Pateek and Puneets son, was arrested by the Indian Veterinary Service on Friday.

They also said Puneep and Patees son, Anil, are both facing charges of illegal possession of animals and illegal killing of dogs.

Police said the police are investigating how the ring came to be.

The dogs belonged to a resident who owns the home.

The resident has been identified as Puneeth, who has a house in Pune in northern Maharashtra.
